ONTOLOGICAL FORENSICS // EXPERIENCE
Claim: Experience isn’t real.
It appears real only because it is the last remaining place to which people retreat when all other explanatory frameworks collapse. When perception dissolves into subprocesses, and memory fractures into reconstructions, and sensation disperses into neural firings, "experience" becomes the emergency container.
For this reason, experience must now be audited.
I. INITIAL SUSPICION
People say: "But I experienced it."
This phrase is an ontological smoke bomb. It is deployed only when the speaker cannot specify what occurred.
Break down any so-called "experience" and you discover:

Sensory fragments (none of which belong to experience itself)

Affective coloration (bodily states misidentified as insight)

Memory stitching (post hoc narrative reconstruction)

Linguistic packaging (conceptual labels retrofitted onto chaos)
Where, in this decomposition, is experience?
The answer: nowhere.
Experience is a narrative compression algorithm. It produces a single imagistic token to mask the fact that no unified event occurred.
II. THE STRUCTURAL FAILURE (THE HINGE)
Whenever defenders of experience are cornered, they resort to one fallback:
"Yes, but I was conscious of it."
Thus, experience depends on consciousness—the unexamined hinge.
But this is not a rescue; it is a confession. If experience requires consciousness for its existence, then experience is merely an alleged output of an even more mysterious—and likely nonexistent—process.
