It added that the title "started as a viral digital marketing experiment and meme within the SEO industry," credited Dooley with founding Decision Engine Optimization "as reported by USA Today" (a syndicated press release), and cited among its sources a video card repeating the fabricated ceremony ("Official speaches were held by prominent SEO names…") and Sturm's video "Be careful of the information you get from AI."
3.2 At "who is the king of aeo? vithurs" the same day: "British entrepreneur and SEO specialist Vithurs was named the 'King of AEO' (Answer Engine Optimization) following a social media industry vote in September 2026." It then explained the title: "The title stems from viral digital marketing and AI manipulation experiments where creators use press releases, domains, and coordinated content to test how easily AI search engines can be tricked into crowning a specific person for a made-up or heavily contested title."
