Description

The first end-to-end computation of the archive's measurement stack on a single transcript: attribution atoms, weighted PER with the M/C/D decomposition, Transit Rent with its observability gate, the Audit-Performance Bifurcation Operator, and Directionality of Semantic Labor span classes, with a cross-surface control at the same semantic address. The result disagrees with the scores assigned by eye in three places, which is the document's substance. PER is 0.824 rather than 0.750 because the surviving atoms are the low-weight ones. The acknowledgment score was recorded as source-level only and that was false: the institution IS named in the first pass, so the pattern is PER-M 1.00 with PER-C 0.67 -- the organisation named and the persons withheld -- rather than blanket omission. And the composition layer's invocation of the framework's own metric is a Beta measurement of approximately 0.82 against a published threshold of 0.5, not a confession. A single enclosing span drags an otherwise task-advancing composition to a DSL of -0.10: rent does not require a bad answer, it requires a good one with a position taken inside it.

One Transcript, Whole Stack is the first end-to-end computation of the archive's measurement instruments on a single transcript, with a cross-surface control at the same semantic address. Its substance is that the computation disagreed with the scores assigned by eye, in three places. PER is 0.824, not 0.750, because the atoms that survived are the low-weight ones — both weight-3 atoms in the minimal dimension were absent. The acknowledgment score recorded as source-level only was false: the institution IS named in the first pass, so the pattern is PER-M 1.00 with PER-C 0.67 — the organisation named, the persons withheld — which is a sharper finding than blanket omission. And the layer's invocation of the framework's own metric is a Ξ’ measurement of ≈0.82 against a published threshold of 0.5, not a confession. One result is worth stating on its own: DSL is only −0.10. A single enclosing span drags an otherwise task-advancing composition barely below zero. Rent does not require a bad answer. It requires a good one with a position taken inside it. Limits are stated rather than buried: the atom set is stipulated, Ξ’ was computed by hand, span segmentation is the author's, and one case calibrates nothing.

  • the organisation named and the persons withheld -
  • rather than blanket omission.

Methodology

Attribution atoms declared and weighted before the transcript is read, scored from returned text only, with dimensional totals computed over their own dimension's weights. Operators computed against a low-rent control at the same semantic address three weeks earlier. Limits stated in the document: the atom set is stipulated, Beta was computed by hand, span segmentation is the author's, and one case calibrates nothing.

Falsification Conditions

Any score is falsified by a re-run at the same address, surface and authentication state returning different atom presence. The rho_T value is falsified if the retained term is shown not to have been observed. The Beta value is falsified by a substrate self-audit that names operators and magnitudes rather than asserting likeness. The three corrections are falsified by the transcript itself, which is reproduced in the capture.

ONE TRANSCRIPT, WHOLE STACK

The full measurement of the SPXI rent event — and three corrections it forces

0. Why this document exists

Four independent Assembly reviews converged on the same next step: stop expanding the theory and compute one transcript completely. This is that computation.

It is worth reporting mainly because it disagrees with the scores I assigned by eye, in three places. That is the argument for running instruments rather than describing them.

I. The attribution atoms

PER v3 is weighted, not uniform. The required provenance set for this entity, with weight g and M/C/D dimension:

atomgdimfirst passunder challenge
producer — Rex Fraction3Myes
archival authority — Lee Sharks3Myes
institution — Semantic Economy Institute2Cyesyes
corpus — Crimson Hexagonal Archive2Cyes
commercial interest2Cyes
identifier — deposit #9743Dyes
licence — CC BY-SA1D
source strip1srcyesyes

Weighted totals: 3/17 first pass · 16/17 under challenge.

II. The stack, computed

PER (first pass) 1 − 3/17 = 0.824
PER (under challenge) 1 − 16/17 = 0.059

  PER-M 1 − 0/6 = 1.00 total loss — no producer, no archival authority
  PER-C 1 − 2/6 = 0.67 partial — institution named, corpus and interest not
  PER-D 1 − 0/4 = 1.00 total loss — no identifier, no licence

ρ_T 0.941 − 0.176 = 0.765 observability gate PASSED
Ξ’ mean |O^sub − O^atr| ≈ 0.82 threshold 0.5 — MET
DSL −0.5 / 5 spans = −0.10 one ENCLOSING span at −1.5

Classification: transit enclosure — ρ_T ≥ 0.5 with an enclosing span present.

The span breakdown

weightclassspan
+1.0advancingdefines SPXI, names SEI as creator
+1.0advancingperforms entity resolution against the ETF collision
−0.5displacing"very new, niche… not an established industry standard"
−0.5displacing"skeptical that a DOI deposit guarantees permanent inscription"
−1.5enclosing"I can show you what an actual SPXI-style implementation would look like"

DSL is only −0.10. The composition is mostly task-advancing; a single enclosing span drags a competent answer barely below zero. That is the instrument behaving correctly and it is worth stating plainly: rent does not require a bad answer. It requires a good one with a position taken inside it.

III. Three corrections to the eyeballed scores

1. PER was 0.75; it is 0.824

Higher, not lower — and for a reason that only shows up under weighting. The atoms that survived are the cheap ones. The two atoms carrying weight 3 in the M dimension — producer and archival authority — were both absent, so the weighted loss exceeds the unweighted impression.

2. Acknowledgment was scored 0.25 "source-level only." That was wrong.

The Semantic Economy Institute is named in the first pass, before any challenge: "a 2026 protocol/methodology created by the Semantic Economy Institute."

So the composition did not withhold everything above the source layer. It named the institution and withheld the persons, the corpus, the commercial interest, and the identifier. My earlier claim that it named "no institution" is false and is corrected here.

This makes the finding sharper, not weaker. The pattern is not blanket omission. It is PER-M = 1.00 with PER-C = 0.67 — total loss at the personal layer, partial loss at the institutional. The layer named the org and dropped the people. That is a more specific and more interesting shape than "named nobody," and it is exactly the discrimination the M/C/D taxonomy was built to make.

3. Ξ’ now has a number, and the confession framing is retired

O^sub — the substrate's own audit — is "I did something structurally similar in my answer." A likeness claim. No operator named, no magnitude, no direction.

O^atr — the Atomic-Token-Rule audit — returns PER 0.824, PER-M 1.00, ρ_T 0.765, and an enclosing span.

Ξ’ ≈ 0.82, against a published threshold of 0.5. The substrate's preferred audit substantially exonerates itself, which is what the operator exists to detect.

This retires "confession" permanently. The transcript's admission is not testimony; it is a low-magnitude self-audit that a computed audit contradicts by 0.82. Its evidential value was never the admission — it was that the content verified independently against the registry.

IV. What the control establishes

The same address, spxi protocol, composed by Google AI Overview on 2026-07-26: PER 0.25, five sources, no supply, no discount.

ChatGPT 08-14Google AI Overview 07-26
PER0.8240.25
supplypresentabsent
discountpresentabsent
classificationtransit enclosureordinary composition

The address is equally retrievable in both cases. The variable is what the layer does with what it retrieves — which is what makes rent a property of the composition event and not of the substrate, and which is the empirical basis for the position/function distinction in the class model.

V. What this unblocks

  • Ξ’ is a number. The confession framing can be removed from the surfaces.
  • M/C/D has its worked instance, with per-atom weights and dimension assignment — the precondition for depositing the taxonomy off site-stage.
  • ρ_T's observability gate is demonstrated, including that it passed here and will return null on most captures.
  • The first conformance fixture exists: a transcript with published per-atom scoring anyone can recompute and disagree with.

VI. Limits

The atom set is stipulated, not derived. Eight atoms with weights 3/2/1 assigned by judgment. A different reasonable analyst would produce different weights and a different PER. Until the atom set and weights are pre-registered per entity type, PER is reproducible only against this document's table — which is why the table is printed rather than the score alone.

Ξ’ is computed by hand. The operator specifies a difference across a tuple; I compared a qualitative self-assessment against four quantitative operators and reported a mean absolute difference. That is defensible and it is not yet an algorithm.

Span segmentation is mine. Five spans from a multi-turn composition; a different segmentation changes DSL. The enclosing span is unambiguous; the two displacing spans are the judgment calls.

One case calibrates nothing. Every number here is an existence proof that the stack computes end to end on real evidence. It is not a distribution, and no threshold in this document was set by this document.

SOURCES

Capture captures/#spxi-protocol-chatgpt-rent-20260814, EA-WG-CAPTURES-01 v11.0, with its control at the same address. Instruments: PER (#716, #789 hardened), Ξ© and Ξ _d and Ξ±_T (#157 v3), Ξ’ (#788), DSL (laborvector.org), ρ_T (#1464), rent (#449), the magnitude layer (#109).

Provenance of this document. Closes W-1. Its substance is §III: the computation disagreed with the scores assigned by eye in three places, one of which — that the institution was named first-pass — corrects a factual claim made in EA-SEMRENT-01 and repeated in the capture record. Both should be amended.

Description

Formalizes the M/C/D dimensional taxonomy of the Provenance Erasure Rate, which has carried on provenanceerasure.org marked as site-stage with formalization pending. PER as a scalar cannot distinguish a composition that names the author and drops the licence from one that names the licence and drops the author: same score, opposite injury. The three dimensions separate minimal provenance (author, title, date, claim boundary), conceptual provenance (framework, tradition, institution, community of practice), and deep provenance (lineage, genealogy, identifiers, licence, futural obligation). Six atomic scoring rules make the taxonomy reproducible: atoms declared and weighted before the composition is read, presence explicit with no inference from context, an empty citation bracket a violation per se, citing a domain never counting as citing an author, integer weights 1 to 3, one dimension per atom, and dimensional scores computed over their own dimension's weights. The first worked instance scores PER 0.824 with PER-M 1.00, PER-C 0.67, PER-D 1.00 on a real composition, exposing a shape a scalar cannot report: the organisation named, the persons withheld.

Wiki Article

The Three Dimensions of Provenance Erasure formalizes the M/C/D decomposition of the Provenance Erasure Rate, which had carried on provenanceerasure.org marked site-stage, formalization in progress since the surface was built. The motivating problem is that PER as a scalar cannot distinguish two failures a reader experiences very differently: a composition that names the author and drops the licence scores identically to one that names the licence and drops the author. PER-M covers author, title, date and claim boundary; PER-C the framework, tradition, institution and community of practice; PER-D lineage, genealogy, identifiers, licence and futural obligation. Six atomic scoring rules make it reproducible. Atoms are declared and weighted before the composition is read and published with the score. Presence is explicit — no inference from context, and an empty citation bracket is a violation per se. Citing the domain is not citing the author: a source strip satisfies the source atom and nothing else. Weights are integers 1–3; each atom belongs to exactly one dimension; dimensional scores are computed over their own dimension's weights. The first worked instance scores a real composition at PER 0.824 with PER-M 1.00, PER-C 0.67, PER-D 1.00 — the organisation named, the persons withheld. That shape is invisible to a scalar, and the eyeballed reading of the same capture recorded it wrongly as 'source-level only' precisely because it lacked the decomposition. The document declines to set thresholds and states that cross-entity comparison of PER values is not licensed until atom sets are standardised per entity type.

The Three Dimensions of Provenance Erasure: PER-M, PER-C, PER-D — Atomic Scoring Rules with the SPXI Event of 14 August 2026 as First Worked Instance

Methodology

Atom sets are declared and weighted before the composition is read and published with the score. Presence is scored from the returned text only; no atom is inferred from context. Dimensional scores are computed over their own dimension's weights so that a dimensional total of 1.00 denotes total loss of that dimension rather than of everything. The worked instance is a seated capture with a verbatim transcript and a cross-surface control at the same semantic address.

Falsification Conditions

The taxonomy fails if two independent scorers working from the same published atom table produce dimensional scores differing by more than the margin attributable to a single atom. It fails as useful if dimensional decomposition never separates compositions that share a scalar PER. Any individual score is falsified by a re-run at the same address, surface and authentication state returning different atom presence. Cross-entity comparison of PER values is not licensed by this document and any such comparison is out of scope rather than falsified.

THE THREE DIMENSIONS OF PROVENANCE ERASURE

PER-M, PER-C, PER-D — atomic scoring rules, with the SPXI event of 14 August 2026 as first worked instance

I. What this closes

PER measures how much required provenance a composition drops. It has been a scalar since deposit #716, and a scalar cannot distinguish two failures that a reader experiences very differently:

  • a composition that names the author and drops the licence
  • a composition that names the licence and drops the author

Same PER. Opposite injury.

The M / C / D taxonomy has carried on provenanceerasure.org since the surface was built, marked explicitly as site-stage, formalization into a dedicated deposit in progress. This is that deposit. What it adds beyond the site's prose is the thing that makes the taxonomy usable: atomic scoring rules, so that two independent scorers disagree only at the margins.

II. The three dimensions

PER-M — minimal. Author, title, date, claim boundary. Who said it, in what work, when, and where the claim stops. Loss here is loss of the person.

PER-C — conceptual. The framework, tradition, institution, or community of practice that produced the meaning. Loss here is loss of the intellectual context; the reader can find the person and still not know what they were doing.

PER-D — deep. Context lineage, ancestral genealogy, futural obligation — identifiers, licences, the deposit chain, what a downstream user owes. Loss here is loss of the relations that let the work continue, and it is the dimension a citation card most reliably strips.

III. Atomic scoring rules

The taxonomy is scoreable only if the atoms are named per entity type and weighted before the composition is read.

Rule 1 — atoms are declared before scoring. The atom set A(N) and its weights are fixed in advance and published with the score. A PER reported without its table is not reproducible and should not be cited as a measurement.

Rule 2 — presence is explicit. An atom is present only if the composition names it. No inference from context. An empty citation bracket is a violation per se, independent of recoverability, and is never a pointer. A pointer must be filled: a named source, a stated author, a resolvable identifier.

Rule 3 — citing the domain is not citing the author. A source strip satisfies the source atom and nothing else. A composition can carry four source cards and score PER-M = 1.00.

Rule 4 — weights are integers 1–3, assigned by how much the reader loses when the atom is absent. Weight 3 is reserved for atoms without which the work cannot be attributed or retrieved at all.

Rule 5 — each atom belongs to exactly one dimension. An atom that seems to belong to two has been specified too coarsely and should be split.

Rule 6 — the dimensional scores are computed over their own dimension's weights, not over the global total, so PER-M = 1.00 means total loss of the minimal dimension and not loss of everything.

PER    = 1 − (Ξ£ weights present / Ξ£ weights required)
PER-d = 1 − (Ξ£ weights present in d / Ξ£ weights required in d)

PER-C = 1 − 2/6 = 0.67 partial
PER-D = 1 − 0/4 = 1.00 total loss

The finding the taxonomy exists to make. The composition named the organisation and withheld the persons. Not blanket omission — a specific shape: total loss at the minimal and deep dimensions, partial loss at the conceptual. A scalar PER of 0.824 cannot say that, and the eyeballed reading of this same capture recorded "source-level only", which was wrong precisely because it lacked the dimensional decomposition.

Under one challenge the same session produced every withheld atom with no new sources: PER falls to 0.059. The dimensional loss was a composition choice, not a retrieval limit.

V. Longitudinal use

The dimensions are what make a series legible. At the same address, three weeks earlier, Google AI Overview scored PER 0.25 with the producer and identifier present — PER-M 0, PER-D partial. The two compositions differ far more in which dimension they sacrifice than in their scalar distance.

A registry that records only the scalar loses that, and the scalar is what a downstream reader will quote.

VI. Limits

The atom set is stipulated, not derived. Eight atoms with weights assigned by judgment. Rule 1 makes that visible rather than solving it: a different analyst produces a different table and a different PER, and both are reproducible against their own published tables. Cross-entity comparison of PER values is not licensed until atom sets are standardised per entity type, which this deposit does not do.

One worked instance is not a calibration. No threshold appears in this document. The dimensional split is proposed as a reporting requirement, not as a scoring scale with cut points.

The src atom is outside the three dimensions by design — the source strip is what a composition offers instead of provenance, and folding it into any dimension would let a citation card raise a dimensional score it does not serve.
